Built by Bancroft, this high capacity dual torch welding lathe is designed for high volume applications. The machine is equipped with a turret that has three positions. Each of these positions has a specific purpose. The first position is for loading the part. The operator presents the part and the tailstock clamps it into the first cell. The second position is the welding position. The part is rotated and welded by the twin torch MIG setup. The third position is designed for part unloading. Once the turret stops in the third position, the part is released and allowed to fall onto a discharge tray. Once the turret moves back to the first position, it is ready to be loaded again. Once the machine is properly setup, the operator will only need to load to part. The rest of the process happens automatically.  The headstock and tailstock on this lathe are both driven from a common drum. There are friction wheels that make contact with a powered drum once the turret moves a cell into the weld position. In all other positions the headstock and tailstock are idle. The system is equipped with two water cooled MIG torches. This is to handle the high duty cycle of this machine. The lathe also has an integrated rotary ground that transfers the welders work lead to both the headstock and tailstock. There is a light curtain for safety purposes. This prevents the turret from rotating if the operators hands are inside the machine. The arc rays are blocked by an overhead shield. To keep the production time up, when the shield is in place, the operator can still load parts. The torches can be moved along the side beam with the supplied spotting cars. These spotting cars are also equipped with pneumatic torch lifters. The lathe uses Miller’s 60 series wire feeders and would integrate well with any of Miller’s GMAW welding power supplies.
