By using this Webb Model M-5 Offset Forming Machine you can now automatically weld circumferential seams in vessels up to ½” in thickness without back-up bars or manual back-up welds. Furthermore this machine produces a tapered off-set joint from the shell material over which the tank head or other shells can be readily fit and automatically welded. The wide acceptance of this method of tank and vessel construction can best be attested by the fact that it is now in use in practically every major tank and vessel fabrication ship in the USA.
